First up was the Tees Valley tournament at Croft - we had four division teams and 2 starter teams entered - the most we have ever had running so far. Typically seed times meant we ended up with two teams in each division on the Saturday - a little chaotic but manageable. First up was division one with the Tailwaggers and Tailgunners running. Somewhat outclassed by the other teams in the division the dogs ran well and we held up the division in 6th and 7th place! Well done to Gillian and Mandy on your first division box loading!!
Next up we had the Tailspinners and Titans - both teams ran fantastically and exceeded their seeded place with the Tailspinners coming 2nd and the Titans 4th - some excellent racing - well done to Cassie, Tina and Jack on your division debut. Congratulations to Carol and Misty for gaining the points for your Intermediate award! Well done to Rob handling Jake for the first time too!
Saturday night saw a number of us camping at Druridge Bay for the NESSR demo on Sunday and after a lovely pub tea we enjoyed NESSR and Snopeak hospitality and entertainment into the early hours. Thanks guys!
Sunday saw a large Tyne contingent supporting the mini NESSR fun weekend in some lovely weather with both starter dogs and out division dogs showing their flyball skills. Everyone ran fab and a few dogs tried their paw at flyball too - we are looking forward to welcoming some of them to training aswell!
The following weekend and we were just down the coast at Redcar for the Crazy show. Just three division teams and one starter team in this time and spread over two days for a more relaxed weekend. The Titans were running on the Saturday and ran great to achieve a 2nd place (as 6th seed) in the division along with gaining the final points for flyball dog awards for Bailey, Millie and Bob - well done all!!
It was great to be able to support the newest North East team the Alnwick Allsorts run in their first BFA tournament - they did great earning 2nd place in starters and we are looking forward to seeing more of them.
Sunday and we had the Tailwaggers (Shadow, Elliot, Jack, River and Storm) in first seeded last in division 1 - whilst we ran well we were once again outclassed by the mush faster teams in the division and ended up firmly where we were seeded! Great fun tho and well done to Stacey for handling River (who was having a stubborn day) and Leanne for managing Jack for me - sorry I forgot to tell you he pushes off on your feet!! I am sure you will all remind me that Shadow runs at 13" in future - sorry!
The Tailspinners (Bruno, Floyd, Misty, Moi, Jack and Blaze) were up next in division four - seeded 5th on a declared time of 20.80. The team did well with some very close racing and some well matched times! A three way tie with matching fastest times led to 4th place with plenty of points - plenty of room to tighten crosses up yet too! The makings of a lovely team! Blaze made his division debut successfully but we need to harness that eacitement more effectively!
The starter team made some excellent progress with Will running well and not even looking to escape, Mia ran great all day only once being distraced by her spaniel nose and going to check out the BBQ - it did smell good! Nell did well and is starting to learn to hold onto that ball, Patch started out a little over enthusiastic and decided he needed to run more than just his leg but he did decide to play fair and ran great with some good crosses, Grace was her usual reliable self - just the odd blip when she spotted that terrier running! Sophie represented the team very well with the Yorkshire Puddings running fab!
Well done to Storm and Bruno who have both earned the points for their graduate awards and to Elliot, Jack, Shadow and Ben who have gained the points for their Advanced awards.
A great weekend to end the summer 2009 season! Well done to all our dogs - some massive progress has been made this year and lots of fun has been had. Plenty to work on over winter to polish our performance. Looking forward to next year!!
