Easter at Carlton Towers

The Tyne teams made a good start to the 2010 season with both starters and open teams running over Easter weekend at Carlton Towers.

The Tyne Trickytails set the standard for the weekend achieving first plave in their starter division!

Three dogs made their competition debut and a huge well done goes to Tipsy, Alfie and Nero on their performance! They were joined by Alfie, Knott and Seb who ran great all day.

We had no teams in on the Saturday so used the day to check out the Game Fair (and the array of food samples!). We also did some ring party to enable our newer members to learn the ropes with no need to rush. Well done to all of you who undertook a new role over the weekend and thanks to those who spent the time training them.

Sunday was a little busier with a team in each of the four divisions. The team worked really well together to be in the right place at the right time with the right dogs - no mean feat!

The Tailspinners were first in, on a faster declared time and with Storm returning from injury. The team ran great, achieving a new seed time and gaining 3rd place. Well done all!

Next up were the Tailtwisters on a declared time! First leg in we broke out - ooops! Careful management after that saw the team running well and gaining 2nd place. Another well done to all the handlers.

Next up was a change of arena and the Tailwaggers were in with Elliot returning from injury. The team ran well, only the odd light, and Vicki made an excellent job of handling River for me. We were however somewhat outclassed and we came away with a 4th place. This team has a lot to give yet and some work on improving crosses (mine)should benefit.

Finally, back to the original arena and it was the Titans turn. Following a successful division debut at Drax last weekend, Seb joined the team setting their jump height at 10 inches. This seemed to suit the team who all ran well and achieved 3rd place. Well done to Jess handling Misty for the first time in competition and to Leslie and Will for sorting out the blue lane!

Big congratulations to those who gained the points for their next award over the weekend - Vicki and Seb, flyball dog, Jean and Bruno and Adam and Storm, Flyball Dog Advanced and Hazell and Jack on their Silver - our first for a dog who started their flyball career as a Tyne Tailwagger!!

We finished the weekend with some ring party and judging for Division one of multibreed on Monday. It was great to see High Variety achieve their excellent 16.95 secs on their first multibreed outing! Well done guys!!
